Controller Pilot lets you run your NovaStar COEX LED walls from your phone or computer — presets, on/off, brightness, inputs, and live health — with secure remote support when you need it. Here's how to set it up and use it, start to finish.
You manage your own screen or screens — a church, a venue, a storefront. One account, your walls, your controls.
You manage walls for many customers or sites (like an AV integrator). Organize screens per customer and invite team members with roles.
If you manage your own screens, just sign up: open the app, choose Create an account, pick Individual, and you're in. Anyone can — there's nothing to wait for.
Running walls for clients? A Company (fleet) account manages many customers and sites with team roles. Those are invite-only while we roll out (paid plans coming) — tell us about your operation and we'll set you up.
Go to app.controllerpilot.com and log in with your email and password. It works on your phone, tablet, or computer — add it to your home screen for one-tap access.
The first time you log in, you'll see Add your first screen. Give the wall a name (e.g. Lobby Wall) and Controller Pilot issues an agent key for it — a unique code that links that physical wall to your account.
Add one screen per wall. You can rename them later, and a company account can group screens by customer or site.
The agent is a small program that runs on an always-on computer at your site (usually the playback PC driving the wall). It makes an outbound connection to Controller Pilot, so nothing has to be opened up on your network. One install manages every screen at that site.
a. On the Download page, get the installer for that computer — macOS (.pkg) or Windows (.zip). Run it; it installs the agent and sets it to start automatically at every boot. (There's also an advanced single-file option that uses Node.)
b. Open the agent's config file and add your screens — paste each screen's agent key and the controller's IP address:
| macOS | /Library/Application Support/ControllerPilot/agent.config.json |
| Windows | C:\ProgramData\ControllerPilot\agent.config.json |
c. Save the file. Within a few seconds the screen turns Online in the app and you can control it.
No hardware in front of you yet? The agent has a built-in simulator so you can see every control work before the real wall is wired up.
Tap Request support in the app. An SV technician can then connect to that wall — but only after you approve, only for a limited time, and every action is recorded. You'll see "Support active until …" while it's on, and you can End access at any moment.
A Company account manages screens across multiple customers and sites. Invite team members from the Team panel and give each a role:
Each customer only ever sees their own screens; your technicians and admins span customers. This is how a provider like SV Solutions runs an entire fleet from one account.
| Screen shows Offline | The on-site computer must be powered on with the agent running. Check it can reach the controller's IP, and that the controller is released from VMP. |
| "Invalid agent key" | The key was mistyped or has been rotated. Copy the current key again from the screen in the app and update the config. |
| Controls time out | Usually network/controller reachability, or the controller hasn't been released from VMP (so something else is holding it). |
| A Support tool is greyed out | That feature isn't available on that processor model — Controller Pilot only shows what the connected processor supports. |
Do I have to keep a computer on at the site?
Yes — the on-site agent computer must stay powered and online for control and support to work. Set it to never sleep and to power back on after an outage.
Do I need to reinstall when the app gets new features?
No. App features update on their own. You'd only re-install the agent if we specifically tell you to (for example, support for a new controller type).
I have several screens — one install or many?
One install per site handles all of its screens. Add each screen in the app and paste its key into the same config file.
Can I try it without hardware?
Yes — run the agent in simulator mode to see every control, the health readouts, and the overheat protection in action.
I'm moving the agent to a different on-site computer — what do I do?
Install the agent on the new computer and re-upload (paste) each screen's key into it. Keys live on the agent computer, so they don't carry over automatically when you switch computers.
I connected a processor to a different computer — why doesn't my screen work?
A screen is tied to the computer that shared it. If you move a processor to a different on-site computer, re-add the screen in the app and share it again from the new computer's agent.
